Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a chronic skin disorder caused by the loss of melanocytes responsible for melanin production, resulting in irregular white patches on the skin. Vitiligo may appear in any part of the body, including the face, hands, limbs, and areas around the mouth or eyes, and may develop gradually over time. At the Horizon Medical Care Center in Ibri, We offer integrated treatment plans for vitiligo based on modern technologies and safe treatments aimed at unifying skin tone and reducing the spread of spots.

Common types of vitiligo:

  1. Local vitiligo: affects only one area.

  2. Diffuse vitiligo: It spreads to multiple symmetrical areas of the body.

  3. Peripheral vitiligo: It appears in the fingers, face, mouth and eyes.

  4. Total vitiligo: Very rare, and leads to the loss of pigment in the entire body.

Ways to treat vitiligo at Afaq Center

We tailor treatment according to the type, size, and location of vitiligo:

  1. Topical treatment: Cortisone creams or immunosuppressants (such as tacrolimus) to stimulate pigmentation.

  2. Narrowband UVB phototherapy: to stimulate pigment cells to produce melanin.

  3. Excimer Laser: Focuses on small spots and fine areas.

  4. Oral immunotherapies (in some cases): to reduce the immune reaction against the chromosomes.

  5. Cosmetic procedures (such as cosmetic tattoos or cell transplants): In stable cases that do not respond to medical treatment.

Treatment Steps at A’Aak Center

  1. Thorough examination and accurate diagnosis: To determine the type and severity of vitiligo and develop a customized plan.

  2. Choosing the right treatment: depending on the affected area and the response of the skin.

  3. Regular treatment sessions: using modern devices or medicated creams.

  4. Careful follow-up: to adjust treatment according to the progression of the condition and prevent spread.

  5. Psychological and educational support: Because the condition may affect self-confidence, we provide comprehensive support to the patient.
