An IUD is an effective and long-lasting method of contraception, and is inserted inside the uterus to prevent fertilization or implantation. There are two main types of IUDs: the
IUD Insertion Procedure (Copper or Hormonal)
We perform the installation of the screw with thoughtful steps that ensure safety and accuracy:
-
Prior consultation: The medical history is discussed and it is determined whether a copper or hormonal IUD is more suitable, depending on desire and health condition.
-
Clinical examination: An examination of the pelvis and uterus is performed to ensure the integrity of the fit.
-
IUD insertion: The IUD is inserted into the uterus using a special instrument, in a procedure that takes only 5 to 10 minutes.
-
Installation Duration: The IUD can be placed at any time of the menstrual cycle, preferably after the end of the cycle, after childbirth or abortion, as the case may be.
-
After Fitness: The woman may feel mild contractions or cramps for a few hours, and temporary rest is recommended.
-
Follow-up: A visit is scheduled after 4-6 weeks to make sure the IUD is positioned correctly.
