Fetal ECG

Fetal Heart Monitoring is a medical procedure used to monitor a fetal heartbeat during pregnancy or childbirth, with the aim of ensuring its safety and assessing its overall health. This test helps detect any early signs of pressure or lack of oxygen that the fetus may be exposed to inside the uterus. At the Horizon Medical Care Center in Ibri, We provide fetal ECG services using accurate and modern devices, under the supervision of gynecologists and obstetricians to ensure safe and reassuring follow-up of pregnancy.

Types of Fetal ECG

  1. External Monitoring:

    • It is done using a device placed on the mother’s abdomen to measure the fetal pulse and uterine contractions.

    • Painless and completely safe.

    • Use in the last months of pregnancy or during labor.

  2. Internal Monitoring:

    • It is only used in some cases of active delivery, where a small device is inserted through the cervix to measure the fetal pulse with higher accuracy.

    • It requires the water bag to have been torn.

When is fetal ECG used?

  • During the third trimester , Especially in cases of high-risk pregnancies.

  • If the mother has chronic diseases (diabetes, hypertension, placental problems).

  • When the fetal is not moving.

  • During childbirth , to monitor the baby’s pulse and make sure it is safe during labor.
